About Charalambos the Lawyer
Charalambos the Lawyer is an educational children’s story about the profession of a lawyer, written in a simple, friendly and humorous way for young readers.
Charalambos has a very important job. As a lawyer, he helps people understand agreements, protect their rights and find justice when they face a difficult problem.
In the story, Charalambos first helps his friend Lefteris, a plumber who wants to buy a house. Before the purchase can be completed, Charalambos checks the contracts and the property documents to make sure that everything is in order. In this way, children learn why legal checks and written agreements are important when someone buys a home.
Later, Charalambos helps his friend Panagiotis, who has decided to reopen his excavation business. He discusses the rental agreement for Panagiotis’ new office and helps him understand the terms before signing it.
The story then takes Charalambos to the courthouse. There he meets a poor man who cannot afford a lawyer and does not understand what is happening in court. Charalambos offers to help him free of charge and explains the situation to him. Thanks to his knowledge and willingness to help, the man is finally able to defend himself properly.
Through Charalambos the Lawyer, children become familiar with ideas such as justice, responsibility, honesty, agreements, rights and helping other people. Difficult words are explained in a glossary so that younger readers can easily understand them.
The book is part of the “Professions” children’s story series, which introduces children to different careers through knowledge, humour and everyday situations.
Parents, grandparents and teachers can use the story to talk with children about professions, fairness, responsibility and the importance of helping people who need support.
